About the Company
Gehring Dancetheatre was founded by Heather Gehring and Michael DiFilippo in 1998 as MDHG Dancetheatre. After recreating itself as Gehring Dancetheatre in 2003, the repertoire has grown to include over twenty pieces choreographed for the company by Heather. Gehring Dancetheatre has performed across New England and internationally, traveling as far as Ankara, Turkey, and Albania. Gehring Dancetheatre continues to perform at numerous locations in New York and New Jersey. They have performed at HATCH, the Waldorf Astoria's Viennese Opera Ball, Dance Manhattan, Teatro la Tea, SPARKS café, Union Square, with Dance New Jersey, and at other events. The contemporary company of Gehring Dancetheatre is based in classical ballet, with company repertoire ranging from ballroom dance to modern and acrobatic styles.

Gehring Dancetheatre is dedicated to stimulating physical, mental, and spiritual health of its artists and audiences. Gehring Dancetheatre will accomplish this by:

  • encouraging wholeness and balance within each artist,
  • creating a relaxed but dedicated work and performance environment,
  • promoting new ideas of dance, so that each artist might reach beyond his or her perceived potential,
  • and involving our audiences in Gehring Dancetheatre through our performances and other artistic ventures, thereby increasing their knowledge and love of dance as an art form and way of life.
